The courses below are designed to certify passing students in one FWC authorized gopher tortoise agent activity or provide vital contextual background information on the biology and ecology of tortoises. These courses are based on FWC guidelines and curriculum requirements that change over time, so they are updated frequently. Survey and Permitting Guidelines
Three day course focused on the ecology and natural history of gopher tortoises, permitting processes and guidelines, and survey techniques.

Two-day course assessing recipient site suitability, permitting, and monitoring and gopher tortoise diet and reproduction
Gopher Tortoise Recipient Site Management

One day course teaching bucket and live trapping, hand shovel excavations, and health evaluations.
Gopher Tortoise Capture Procedures: Not Mechanical/Backhoe

One to two day course per individual focusing on field based training for mechanical excavations.
Mechanical Excavation of Gopher Tortoise Burrows

Half day to full day course focusing on measuring, marking, processing, transport, holding, and release of gopher tortoises.
Gopher Tortoise Marking, Transport, and Release

We offer refraction and remedial courses and custom courses upon request.
